The sage was with some of his friends when he witnessed an old lady training her grandson for the trapeze. The boy made three or four futile efforts to get over the bar. Then she was heard to suggest: "Son, if you just throw your heart over the bars, your body will follow."

The sage commented, "She's teaching a fundamental lesson, not so much about trapeze as about life. It's the heart that determines the direction of life."
